Happy Resurrection Sunday! Welcome to or welcome back to my blog.
On Resurrection Sunday (also referred to as Easter), followers of Christ celebrate the living hope that we have in Jesus Christ.
Google’s definition of hope is “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.” However, in biblical terms, hope refers to unconditional certainty; an unconditional certainty that what God says is true, now, today, and forever.
This hope is a living hope because of what Christians celebrate on Resurrection Sunday…
The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

This resurrection has significance only because of Jesus’ divine nature and because of what he did three days prior. What is commonly called Good Friday is the day that we recognize and remember the crucifixion of Jesus and how he bore the wrath of God on behalf of sinners who place their trust in him.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,
1 Peter 3:18
And being found in human form, he [Jesus] humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:8
Three days later, he rose from the dead! It was not a crazy fainting spell. He died. His heart stopped beating. He was no longer alive and, yet, three days later, he was fully alive again—just as he had predicted on multiple occasions (Luke 9:22, Matthew 17:22-23, Mark 9:31, etc.). This resurrection signified the conquering of death for those who surrendered to Jesus and placed their trust in Him as their savior from eternal torment in hell.
He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
Matthew 28:6
That is why the hope that we have in Christ is a living hope — because Jesus rose from the dead and is living!
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Peter 1:3
We have an unconditional certainty that what God says is true. This implies that we can trust Him when he says that, by believing that Jesus paid the punishment for the sins of those who trust in Him, we have been saved from the wrath of God on judgment day, and instead we will spend eternity with God forever in heaven.
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Romans 10:9-10

P.S. The second part of the book post from last week will be postponed to next week. I realized after that post that this is Easter Sunday and decided to take the opportunity to share some of my thoughts about this holiday. :)
Beautifully written Lilly. We sang Glorious Day by Casting Crowns on Easter Sunday which is also a great song about what Jesus has done for us x
I so appreciate you taking a break from everything else to highlight the most remarkable account of all time -- Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. There are both so pivotal to our lives, and "life is worth the living just because He lives!" Hallelujah, He is risen. 🤍🕊
